Three Suggestions to Play a Better Golf Game

By Andrew Hoffmann

Golf is a very involved game and playing it the right way consists of getting many things right. But this does not mean that it will stop you from becoming a good golf player if you are just starting out. As long as you know that it will take practice and that you have to be realistic about what you can learn and accomplish, then you should not have anything stopping you from becoming a good golfer. Continue reading for advice that can help you with your golf game.

You have to have the right gear to play the game if you want to become a serious golfer. This goes beyond clubs and includes clubs and proper attire. You'll find two general types of balls to choose from: two-piece and three-piece. It is usually recommended that beginners start off with two-piece balls as three-piece balls are used mainly by the experts as they offer better control. First you need to master the game before moving on to a more complex type of ball. Finding clothing to wear that doesn't hamper your ability to swing is your main concern. Wearing a tight jacket, for instance, will prevent you from making those long strokes that are so nice to watch on TV. You must have proper balance in order to make good swings.

You can't hit the ball if you can't stay on your feet. When you are able to easily pivot around one single point you'll see that it is much easier to hit the ball every time. This single point is usually considered to be located 3 inches below the point where your collarbones meet at the base of your neck. So, this is the point that should always stay fixed, while your body pivots around it. There are a few wonderful exercises that were created with golfers in mind that will help with balance. You should also incorporate exercises aimed at improving your strength and flexibility as well, which will help improve the distance of your shot as well as your swing.

You would be amazed at how much you can enhance your game if you think about your shots. Simply sit back, when you have a little time. Run though a shot in your mind from the time that you align yourself to the time the ball lands on the green. When you implement this technique enough, you will discover things become easier on the range. This is because you will know everything. You will get to the point where it comes naturally without hour having to over analyze it. Over thinking a shot is an error that a lot of newbies make. This leads them to thinking twice about the same shot. In the long run, they are so intimidated about making an error that it eventually turns into a self fulfilling prophecy. So in order to get around this, just think about your shots as much as you can. You will see that your game gets so much better.

As you can tell, there are some important aspects that can help you improve your golf game, but they don't have anything to do with playing the game itself. However, without a good base for building up your skills, you do not have a good opportunity for making your game better. So, get the basics down pat and you will be on the road to making other golfers sweat.
