By Reed Slidell

Do you need new PVC strip doors for your complex? It does not matter if you are going to install one in a warehouse or some kind of storage facility, the fact is you know the importance of using this kind of plastic door to your advantage. This is because while it may look like a very simple object that looks like a curtain made out entirely of slightly opaque plastic, it nevertheless effectively keeps out objects that might cause problems within the facility while still allowing human and machinery traffic easy access.

PVC door strips have become a constant favorite by plant and warehouse managers because it greatly contributes to the lower power expenditure out of continuously operating an air conditioning system in their facilities. This is because as simple as a set of plastic strips may look like, they actually keep the facility enclosed, just like any regular door, while still allowing for constant flow of traffic in and out of it. This keeps the power expenditure for the air conditioning unit very low as compared to using a regular type of door that would need to be held open just to allow people to pass through. Just imagine how much hot air would go into the air conditioned room and how much burden it would be to the compressors, which in turn would result to higher power usage.

The following are some tips and suggestions that you can use when you go out to buy PVC strip doors for your facility.

Before you approach any PVC door vendor, you should first measure the opening where you will have the door installed. This way the vendor will have a clear idea on how many materials he would quote you and for how much too. This will greatly save you time from having to go back to your place just take the measurements.

You must also choose the kind of mounting to be utilized. The following are a few of the popular ones:

Wall mount - This is perhaps the most popular type of PVC strips door because it can fully cover the door area. It is installed above the doorway so the strips just fall down covering up to the floor.

Jamb mount - You may already have an idea on what it is like when it comes to its installation. You guessed it right, it is installed within the doorjamb. It is less common because it reduces the height of the door.

Stand off mount - If your door has an existing roll-up, then this is your better option as it has a support bar that extends just above the doorway to where the roll-up goes in and out. The support bar holds the PVC strips.

And also, equally important to choosing a mount type is in choosing the width of the strips to be installed on your door. It is really the width of each strip that matters. This is because the wider the strips, the harder it would be for someone to go through it. And the wider the strips, the more number of strips will be installed.

These are a few of the tips that you can use to help you decide on what type of traffic doorway system or PVC strip doors would fit your facility. Just like with anything else, carefully choose the vendor. Go with someone that can provide a good price and reliable service.
